In northern Cairns adjacent to the Botanical Gardens, Peddle Thorp have created a new working environment for the State Emergency Services. The new headquarters is form of a series of multi-use spaces that accommodate the wide range of SES and Community activities.

The building can be separated into self-contained independent zones with individual access, for use by Community and other Groups outside normal hours. Accommodation consists of a double 12 vehicle Garage and full Workshop which (during an emergency) doubles as a fully kitted out Briefing Room. Also included are 6 multi-use classroom/training rooms, full commercial kitchen, changing rooms and amenities, together with a 12 person Admin Office.

The building is designed to operate during emergencies, and while flooded by up to a metre above floor level. Overall, this new headquarters provides for all the brief requirements and more – offering spaces that are informal, professional, efficient and flexible.
