Peddle Thorp Architects were commissioned in 1995 to undertake asset review, health service planning and master planning options for the future needs of the Mater Hospitals campus at South Brisbane. A comprehensive review of existing facilities determined the quality and usefulness of the building stock. Together with RGA, future directions for health services were determined schedules of accommodation needs determined.

Several options were considered and the recommended option, developed by Peddle Thorp, of relocating the Children’s Hospital and creating closer linkages with the Private Hospital has now been implemented.
