Peddle Thorp were commissioned to undertake the new Mater Cancer Care Centre. The centre included a new offering which was the private oncology service. The public and private oncology treatment pods and consult rooms shared common amenities for example Clean and Dirty Utility Rooms, Medical Storage to enable efficiency in time management and human resources. Both the private and public oncology treatment pods had to work together aesthetically but through the use of subtle differing finishes and service offering we were able to separate the zones harmoniously and seamlessly.

The refurbishment was undertaken in the old Mater Mothers ward with a difficult footplate that had numerous existing service ducts which had to remain. However, the project completed on time with a beautiful transformation that added value whilst creating a welcoming place of healing.
