The School of Mining at Rockhampton University is a cutting-edge facility designed to meet the evolving demands of the mining and resources sector. Tailored to support the university's academic vision, this state-of-the-art building provides flexible, future-ready learning spaces that can adapt to technological advancements and evolving curriculum needs. Close collaboration between Peddle Thorp Architects and CQU’s teaching staff ensured the design would facilitate innovation, hands-on learning, and industry partnerships.
With a focus on accessibility and functionality, the building seamlessly integrates with its surroundings while offering dynamic spaces for students, educators, and industry professionals to connect and collaborate. Sustainability is embedded into every aspect of the design, featuring energy-efficient systems and renewable resources, reinforcing the university’s commitment to environmental responsibility. This facility positions CQU Rockhampton as a leader in mining education, providing an invaluable resource for students and industries alike, while elevating the university’s status in the global mining sector

The building was designed to fit into the broader campus master plan which Peddle Thorp had recently completed.
