CENTRAL PLAZA 1 & 2
FAST FACTS
THE DETAILS
The result of the joint commission of Peddle Thorp Architects together with Kisho Kurokawa Architect and Associates is the striking Brisbane landmark Central Plaza office complex. The development, by the Land Equity Group comprises two towers.
The outstanding foyers in both buildings feature polished aluminium and illuminated panels of varying size and design on the walls. The design of these foyers is based on the ancient Japanese game of ’GO’ and the Western games of chess to infer a co-existence of two cultures. The incorporation of a running stream through the buildings creates a historical reference to the environment that existed prior to the establishment of Brisbane on the river front.
The pristine facade is conceived as a towering crystalline form. The slickness of the shape is taught and pure in execution. The unique prism shaped roof is able to raise the top three metres and rotate 360º to form a 47 metre long crane for the purposes of building maintenance.
