Main concourse verandahs are shaded by continuation of the main roof form. The sweeping curve of the main roof and verandah edges make reference to Australia’s subtropical vernacular and establish a contextural identity.

The centre comprises five main exhibition halls, one of which contains a mechanically operated seating system that can raise and lower seating to facilitate conventions for up to 4000. A 2000 seat ballroom with adjacent terrace overlooks the city skyline. Twenty meeting rooms, ranging from 50 to 1,000 square metres provide a variety of conference and functions facilities.

The roof design provides enhanced suspension capacity and increased exhibition volumes. Each halls is clear span and can be combined to provide an open exhibition space of up to 25,000 metres square. The roof structure is exposed internally, reflecting the dramatic three-dimensional geometry.
