AUGUSTA STATE SCHOOL | NEW 8 GLA BUILDING
FAST FACTS
THE DETAILS
The Augusta State School is a new two-storey free-standing building containing six general learning areas (GLAs), two Prep GLAs, withdrawal and prep areas, external learning space on two levels, interview room, practical learning area, art store and student amenities.
The new building is located within an existing school site managed by the PPP company Ventia, thus requiring an additional level of consultation between all stakeholders whilst keeping in line with DoE’s Facilities Brief, and exceptions as required to suit the existing facilities. Particular challenges that were overcome include integrating the new facility into the steep nature of the topography whilst allowing both levels to seamlessly connect to
existing adjacent facilities.
The ground plane was carefully integrated with thoughtful landscape design, with ease of maintenance and student’s external learning opportunities as key driving factors. Infrastructure was also addressed according to site needs, whilst allowing for future expansion should additional GLAs be required at any point in time.
