The completion of the Mercy Centre at the Mater Private Hospital in Pimlico, Townsville provides a contemporary medical facility for North Queensland residents.

The facility delivers industry-leading treatment and care through new digital operating theatres, perioperative spaces, recovery areas, staff facilities and a new medical imaging department.

The building provides 4 additional operating theatres for the campus. When combined with the 8 existing theatres, the opening of the centre will see the hospital increase to 12 theatres, expanding their Day of Surgery Admissions capacity.

The development provides a refreshed, identity with a new arrival point and main entry for the hospital campus. It includes a covered patient drop off facilities to create a safe, convenient arrival point, with a textured, perforated sun screen creating a focal point, signalling the hospital entry. The cross perforations to the sun screen manipulate the light throughout the day, creating shifting patterns which are experienced in the internal spaces.

The Mercy Centre forms stage 1 of the 10-year master plan for the Mater Private Hospital Townsville. The new 3 level building completes 4 years of design and construction services from our Brisbane and Townsville offices.
